Just in time for the gift-giving holidays, Twitter is going all retail on us with three new initiatives:

Add stuff to your Amazon wish list via Twitter. You simply reply with #amazonwishlist to any tweet containing an Amazon product link.

Add stuff to your Amazon cart via Twitter. Same idea – you reply with #amazoncart to any tweet containing an Amazon product link.

Buy it right on Twitter. Instead of being directed to a retail site, you’ll be able to make purchases through a new “Buy” button embedded in tweets (Facebook is also adding a Buy button.)
Based on these developments, it seems social channels are feeling the pressure to demonstrate ROI. Question is, are users ready for this new “social commerce”?
